Reflections on a powerful reception at London Climate Action Week

Climate Action Week

This week, eco‑shaper had the privilege of joining London Climate Action Week (LCAW) for a lively Pimm’s Reception and lunch at the House of Lords. As the city-wide festival kicked off on June 23, our gathering became one of the week’s standout moments, bringing together policymakers, startup leaders, and climate champions united by the mission of accelerating net-zero innovation.

Where we were: the House of Lords

Walking into the House of Lords, the setting blended historical gravitas with modern purpose. The room pulsed with energy as diverse attendees; founders, regulators, financiers came together. It reminded us that while our sustainability challenges are vast, the collective will to address them has never been stronger.

Who we met: connecting across sectors

We engaged with the Startup Coalition, led by Charlie Mercer and Dom Hallas. Their work in shaping climate policy and advancing the UK’s green technology landscape is notable. The Coalition’s role as a bridge between the startup ecosystem and Westminster highlights the kind of cross-sector collaboration needed to drive meaningful change.

What we talked about: climate, collaboration, and change

Key themes emerged in our conversations:

  • Supporting startup growth in clean and climate tech sectors
  • How strong climate policy can unlock private sector momentum
  • The value of cross-sector dialogue, from venture capital to policy and NGOs

These exchanges reinforced our belief: sustainability collaboration enables real-world progress.

Why it matters to us

For eco‑shaper, events like LCAW aren’t just an opportunity to listen in, they’re a platform for us to be active contributors to the climate ecosystem. We exist to bring people, policies, and ideas together in ways that turn potential into impact. This reception helped us strengthen relationships and deepen our understanding of where we can add the most value as ecosystem builders.

Looking ahead

London Climate Action Week continues until June 29, and the energy is just electrifying. The whole-of-society climate action concept is palpable, at hubs like Guildhall, Blue Earth Forum, and the Cities Summit, we’re seeing a widening coalition in action.

If you’re building something in climate and want to connect with funders, policymakers, or peers, we’d love to help make those links. It’s what we do best.
